The katana on display is a finely crafted example of Japanese blacksmithing traditions. The blade is forged from Damascus steel, famous for its distinctive swirl or wave pattern, resulting from layers of steel bent and welded together. This method not only gives the blade a unique beauty, but also superior strength and elasticity.

The guard (tsuba) is made of high-grade copper, finely sculpted, indicating a high level of detail and personalization. The scabbard (saya) features the traditional red lacquering, decorated with the distinctive and historic Toyotomi clan symbol. The tachi-style frame with ornaments such as Obitori Kanagu Kashiwaba and Kogiri accentuates authenticity and respect for historical forms.

The handle (tsuka) is wrapped in genuine shagreen leather, known for its durability and firm grip. The tsuka-ito, the rope that surrounds the handle, continues onto the scabbard, a detail that shows particular attention to design continuity.

The two bamboo mekugi, pegs used to attach the blade to the handle, allow disassembly and reassembly for maintenance or inspection. This katana weighs 1.4 kg with scabbard, making it relatively well-balanced for practice or demonstration.
